INTERPRETER FAQs
Do you provide interpreters as well as equipment?
We can certainly provide a full suite of services to support your event. This includes professional interpreters, on site interpretation services, delegate push to talk microphones for clear communication, and PTZ cameras with auto tracking capabilities to capture speakers seamlessly. Whether you need simultaneous or consecutive interpretation, integrated audio solutions, or advanced video equipment, everything can be supplied and coordinated to ensure a smooth, high quality experience for your attendees.
Why do I need two interpreters?
You need two language interpreters because simultaneous interpreting is mentally exhausting, and no single interpreter can maintain accuracy, speed, and concentration for long periods without a break.
Simultaneous interpreters work in 15–20 minute shifts because the brain load is extremely high. They must listen, understand, translate, and speak all at the same time, with only a few seconds of delay. After about half an hour, accuracy drops sharply. That’s why professional standards require a team of two interpreters who alternate to keep the interpretation clear, accurate, and safe for the audience.
What’s the difference between a translator and an interpreter?
A translator works with written text, while an interpreter works with spoken language in real time. That’s the core difference.
• Translator — Converts written documents (emails, reports, books, contracts) from one language to another. They have time to research, edit, and refine the wording.
• Interpreter — Converts spoken language instantly during meetings, events, calls, or conferences. They must listen, understand, and speak almost simultaneously.
What’s the difference between simultaneous interpreting and consecutive interpreting?
🎧 Simultaneous Interpreting
The interpreter listens and speaks at the same time, usually from a soundproof booth with a headset and microphone.
• Used for conferences, large events, multilingual meetings
• No pauses for the audience
• Requires two interpreters because it’s mentally intense
• Feels seamless and fast for listeners
Consecutive Interpreting
The speaker talks for a short segment, then pauses while the interpreter delivers the message.
• Used for small meetings, interviews, legal settings, medical appointments
• Slower because the speaker must stop regularly
• Interpreter often takes notes
• One interpreter can potentially do this, depending on time and subject matter
How accurate is AI interpretation?
AI language interpretation is moderately accurate for simple, short, and well structured communication, but its accuracy drops significantly with complex phrasing, cultural nuance, or high stakes contexts.
When accuracy drops, AI interpretation becomes unreliable when:
• The topic is medical, legal, or emotionally sensitive
• The speaker uses slang, dialects, or culturally loaded expressions
• The conversation requires nuance, negotiation, or empathy
• The language pair is less common
• Background noise disrupts speech recognition
These situations often require a human interpreter to avoid misunderstandings. AI is best used as a supplement, not a replacement.
What if my venue doesn’t allow the use of an interpreter booth?
Potential alternatives when a booth isn’t allowed:
Portable interpreting equipment
• No booth required
• Fast setup
• Works well for small–medium events
Remote simultaneous interpretation (RSI)
• No booth or on site interpreter required
• Requires strong venue internet
• Great for multi language events
Whisper interpreting
• No equipment
• Suitable for 1–3 listeners only
Dedicated quiet room
• Side room
• Backstage area
• Control room
Audio & video can be routed using Dante systems.
How many languages can your system support at once?
buk solutions language systems used for multilingual conferences can support between 1 and 42 simultaneous languages, depending on the exact model and configuration. The system uses digital infrared (IR) or radio-frequency (RF) channels, the receiver capacity, and the audio routing hardware. We offer a range of brands including Televic, Brahler, and Bosch.
Do your interpreter booths meet ISO 2603 requirements?
Yes, our interpreter booths are designed to meet ISO 2603:2016 requirements for permanent simultaneous interpreting booths, ensuring optimal acoustic insulation, proper dimensions, and comfortable working conditions for interpreters.
HYBRID & REMOTE EVENT FAQs
Do you support hybrid or remote conferences?
Yes, buk Solutions fully supports hybrid and remote conferences with professional interpretation services. We provide a range of technical solutions specifically designed to bridge the gap between on-site and remote participants.
Is your system suitable for hybrid or virtual events?
Yes, we stock all necessary equipment to support hybrid and virtual events. This became a necessity during COVID and it’s now a regular occurrence for events to have a hybrid element.
What internet requirements are needed for hybrid events?
Hybrid events require a dedicated, high-speed wired internet connection (Ethernet), ideally with a minimum of 50 Mbps upload and download speeds to ensure stable streaming of audio and video. We can also provide 4G/5G back-up options.
Can the audio be recorded or streamed?
Yes, our systems support audio recording and live streaming using additional equipment.
Supported features include:
• Audio recording
• Live streaming
• Multi language streaming
• Hybrid meetings
Streaming can be routed to platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, Teams, Zoom, and private networks.
Are your microphones compatible with platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams?
Yes, our microphones are compatible with platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams because they output standard professional audio signals including XLR, USB, and Dante network audio streams.
MICROPHONE & CONFERENCE SYSTEM FAQs
What does “Push to Talk” mean?
A push to talk system is any wired or wireless microphone setup where audio is transmitted only while a button is pressed. Both wired and wireless versions can be supplied by buk solutions.
What’s the difference between wired and wireless push to talk delegate microphone systems?
Wired push-to-talk (PTT) delegate microphones offer maximum reliability. Wireless Shure microphone systems provide superior flexibility, enabling rapid setup and flexible seating arrangements in multipurpose rooms.
How many microphones can be used in one system?
Our push to talk (PTT) conference system can support anywhere from 1 microphone to well over 3,000 microphones on a single integrated network, depending on how the system is configured.
Do your systems support voting or polling features?
Our push to talk microphone systems provide full delegate voting functionality including:
• Yes / No / Abstain voting
• Multiple choice voting
• Weighted voting
• Secret ballots
• Roll call voting
AUDIO & PA SYSTEM FAQs
What is a PA system and do I need it?
A PA (Public Address) sound system is a setup of microphones, mixers, amplifiers and speakers that makes voices or music loud enough for an audience to hear clearly.
If your audience is larger than 20–30 people, or the room is noisy or large, a PA system ensures your message is heard clearly.
PTZ CAMERA FAQs
What is a PTZ camera?
PTZ cameras are flexible tools for monitoring large areas or enabling dynamic live shoots. They combine pan, tilt, and zoom functionality with optical zoom and IP connectivity.
Can the cameras integrate with delegate microphone systems?
Yes. Our camera systems can automatically track active speakers using custom software linked to the microphone system.
Can cameras be controlled manually as well as automatically?
Yes, our camera systems can be operated manually if required.

Unparalleled control
Expert camera units, seamlessly linked to your AV system
In any environment, whether it be at a conference, board room or court room, it is essential that those in the space can see the person who is speaking. In these scenarios, the most practical method of tracking the speaker is to direct the camera to the microphone location using camera control software.
