buk strengthens its AV conference team to expand its horizons
Cambridge-based conference technology provider buk Solutions has strengthened its team with the recruitment of two experienced conference technicians.
It continues to invest in its services to clients and expand its horizons and recently welcomed Tom Whitehouse (left of picture) and Jack Daubney (right of picture) to the team to further its growth.
Steve Hunt, Operations Manager at buk, said: “The two join us at a very exciting time when we are expanding the boundaries of our business and aiming for other sectors of the market. Their help will be vital in taking buk to the next level.
“Our technicians are extremely important members of the buk team because they work so closely with our clients.
“It is they who will leave the lasting impression of the firm, so we ensure we choose our staff carefully. They have a very responsible job that includes preparation, installation, on-site client liaison operation and dismantling of the technology, too.”
Jack said: “I’m looking to further developing my skills and expertise within the audio-visual world and to enhance and utilise my existing experience from working as a professional musician and audio-visual technician.
“Above all, I enjoy the variety and flexibility this work provides, alongside getting a fly-on-the-wall insight into other industries.”
While Tom said: “For me, it’s something new every day. It’s interesting and I feel there is so much to learn about the whole audio-visual side. I’ve always wanted to become a project manager. It’s definitely a goal of mine.
“I know it takes a while to get there, but I’ll always put the time and effort into achieving that. I look forward to the future here.”
The firm, which has been operating in the AV and conferencing arena for over 30 years, specialises in providing, setting up and running high-tech equipment at events to ensure delegates receive a good experience.
It also focuses on providing simultaneous interpretation systems for conferences within the UK and across the globe.
Recently, its AV Project Manager, Duncan Conway (in the middle of the picture), qualified for PRINCE2, the project manager’s certification.
Duncan said: “It was challenging, but well worth the effort. PRINCE2 is recognised throughout the industry and gives our clients confidence that any projects we undertake will be managed in a professional and structured way. It also demonstrates buk’s commitment to investing in staff training and development in order to stay at the top of our field.”

In any environment, whether it be at a conference, board room or court room, it is essential that those in the space can see the person who is speaking. In these scenarios, the most practical method of tracking the speaker is to direct the camera to the microphone location using camera control software.
